Centroamericano coffee is an extremely rare coffee; a cross variety between a Rume du Soudan and a Sarchimor, bringing the Centroamericano to life in an exceptional way in the heart of Costa Rica at the agronomic center. An exceptional cup, the coffee is grown at more than 1,600 meters above sea level and guarantees sweet aromas of cherry and apricot with a very suave and elegant character. Centroamericano coffee is selected for the Cup Of Excellence 2024 in Costa Rica, and is one of the 26 best micro-lot coffees in the country. This rare and precious gem is an extremely delicate union of Sudan Rum, a robust and resistant variety, and Sarchimor, a famous coffee known for its sweetness and elegance. This perfect alliance gave birth to a “Centroamericano” variety which combines the strength of character of Soudan with the finesse of Sarchimor: an incredible taste experience. Who is Carole Zbinden? Carole Zbinden is an independent coffee producer in Costa Rica and manages her farm “El Quizarra” at over 1,400 meters above sea level, a family farm passed down from her father. Carole owns a farm of more than 14 hectares where the coffee trees are located as well as her mill for processing the beans. It places a strong emphasis on sustainability, since it is aware that the majority of carbon emissions are linked to agriculture. This is why its plantation has implemented systems to reduce water and energy consumption, by exploiting various waste from the plantation such as parchment or pulp. In fact, this coffee “process” waste makes it possible to enrich the soil, without consuming more water or energy.
